Google Toolbar and Googlebot Crawling
At first look, this sounded like a no-brainer. “Well of course, why not?” you say.
I didn’t think it would be an issue, obviously financial sites I access are password protected. However, I did incidently make the mistake of visiting an admin url that was not password protected during an install for an application on one of my forums.
I didn’t discover it for quite awhile, until I did an “inurl:” search on my domain name, and saw the php error that was triggered as a result. This can be potentially dangerous, as error messages can be revealing to unwanted hackers.
When you do a web-based install that isn’t password protected, it’s a very good idea to make sure you delete whatever you don’t need, or at least password protect them with an htaccess file.
You can also disable the toolbar temporarily.
